It will say that this to help you keep track of the machines running BSDI vs. the machine licenses you paid for. It gives the option to enter none as well. If you enter none, then the maximum user limit on the machine will be one user, and "This system is running a DEMO copy of BSD/OS" will appear at every login. I did this on a test system, and noted these results. The ability to fix this w/out reinstalling wasn't immediately apparent, and wasn't noted in the manual as far as I could see, so here it is: At root prompt, enter sysctl -w kern.license=<license here> sysctl -n kern.license > /etc/license chmod 400 /etc/license This will officially register your box, and remove the faux maxuser limit and demo message. Note: You need an official BSD/OS license to do this.
