I volunteer to find and fix the problem if someone wants to send me a
mac with a 68LC040 in it--either as a loaner or as a contribution to the
cause.  I will pay for shipping one-way.  I'll even talk the guy who says
he knows what's wrong...  :-)

It's really rather hard to fix these kinds of things unless you can
locally reproduce and debug the problem.
