It's not really a solution, but it's a damn site better than having to
reboot :)  Check out http://www.freebsd.org/~brian for the source to
"setcon".  All it does is switch vtys (what ALT-F? does) - this fixes
the problem.  In fact, I think it probably should be a part of the
kbdcontrol program (doesn't one of the pcvt utils have this ability?).

FWIW, this has happened on every FreeBSD box I've run since around the
middle of last year.  I've never sat down and figured out what the
problem is....  It even happens on the gateway machine in work -
this machine isn't running X, isn't running moused and hasn't got
a mouse plugged in.

The only thing in common is that all of these machines have psm
configured....  It looks like a "trawl through the code" job -
I don't think it's possible to reproduce.
