I was also considering upgrading a 2.1.0 system to 2.1.7.
I have not installed 2.1.0 myself, so I do not know what parts belong to
FreeBSD and what parts are user made.
After going through the installation notes I got scared about the
"upgrade warning". Now I try to find the best way to do it:
- Make a fresh install and copy the homes? (And find out on the way,
what may be missing?)
- Make a backup and upgrade over the 2.1.0? How would I know there
hasn't been any harm? Or that old pieces of FreeBSD are removed?
What is the recommended approach for a novice?

Thanks, Axel.
