FreeBSD is first choice for me. Look http://www.freebsd.org/

I know about 80% of all PC Unix Versions, SunOS4, Solaris2,
Linux Slackware, Suse Linux.

If it's not a special driver, that need to run Linux, then I'd
get FreeBSD 2.1.7 and 2.2, if it comes out.

Better design, better installation, central source repository
where bugs are being fixed for the furure, open developement,
nice team, excellent upgrade strategies via internet: cvsup, ctm, ...

For multiplatform support -> Net-, OpenBSD
For commercial support    -> BSDI
