	Edit the file /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/LINT, read the sound section
and add GUS sound support in the kenrel. You should be able to take it
from there.
(Btw, you must have the kernel source to do this of course. If not, go to
ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/<Release-Name>/src, get ssrc.* sinclude.* .)
