I just set up my FreeBSD box in the last few weeks. I use a Cyrix P166+
chip in it, and it runs great. Results from Bytebench, a benchmark
package you can install with FreeBSD, showed that my Cyrix P166+ got
slightly better performance (on my motherboard) than another fellow's
Intel Pentium 166 (on his motherboard, about which I know nothing). That
ought to be fast enough for you.
