You are completely right (well, almost)!

emacs itself is a fabolus word processor. I wish, I would have such
cabailities like regular expressions, automatic indentation, customized
modes with even automatic coloring for anything from plain shell script up
to HTML code or mail and news with MS Word.

 But of course LaTeX is no word processor, it's an excellent type setting
system.
