Of course, the real question is what fraction of the users of each
system make this switch.

If Linux users outnumber FreeBSD users by 10 to 1, and people
switching from Linux to FreeBSD outnumber those switching vice-versa
by 5 to 1, that would hardly argue in favor of FreeBSD.

What is the estimated size of the FreeBSD user base?  Just curious.
