I am using the Philips CDD2000. This is the one that's been advertised
a lot with a $100 rebate. So far, I've only used it to make data-only
disks, but that's what his program does anyway. The CDD2000 is
documented as implementing a superset of the CDD522 commands.

I'm happy with it. All the coasters I've made are coasters because
I was given bad files to put on them -- none were due to any problems
with the recording process. :)

I have two machines set up to record CDs:

75 MHz Packard Bell; Adaptec 2940 PCI SCSI interface
133 MHz Micron; Adaptec 1535 ISA SCSI interface

b.t.w. I couldn't tell this from the specs, but both of the CDD2000's
came with a 1535 SCSI controller.

For both machines I am using a Seagate Barracuda 2 gig disk as a
buffer disk to hold the ISO 9660 image and the as-shipped IDE
disk to hold my OS, swap, etc.

I'm pretty good about leaving the machines alone while they are
recording the CD, but they give the impression of not being
terribly busy. e.g. you can run light loads without disturbing
the recording process.
