Thanks for your help!

He's a close friend, I'm not worried about hostility.  I am worried
about cost, and I need to find a solution to use my existing hardware as
much as possible.  I'd rather spend time tinkering with an adtran or
bitsurfer and my fbsd box (and spending a couple hundred dollars) than
strapping myself to a major investment.  I will not be running bigtime
services from my home lan - just for useful connectivity when I need it.

I imagine with some doing you might get aliasing to work - hide your net
behind one proxy server or something?
