Wordperfect, which must be the most popular after Word, has been running
on Linux for some time. I imagine it runs on other Unix's as well. There
are also more modern spreadsheets. Additionally there are commercial
office suites available.

This is about as logical as my flaming NT for only having edlin.

Some people consider there regular work to be mission critical :)

What would be ideal would be a market in which software and system
services where broadly portable amongst as many OS's as people
cared to support. Unfortunately this is patently not the vision
that MS holds dear.

No sense at all..but MS apps are a vital part of their monopoly.
However the new Corel office thing should work on both platforms
which should make things interesting.

I know people have been playing with it under Linux.
