I recently installed BSDI 2.1 on a local machine and everything is working
fine except for very slow ftp transfers in the direction of this machine
(either "gets" from it or "puts" to it).

So for example (the client is the one issuing the get/put):

Action Server Client Result
ftp get bsdi 2.1 bsdi 2.0 1.2e+02 Kb/sec
ftp put bsdi 2.1 bsdi 2.0 1.6 Kb/sec !!!

ftp get bsdi 2.0 bsdi 2.1 1.8 Kb/sec !!!
ftp put bsdi 2.0 bsdi 2.1 1.3e+02 Kb/sec

The 2.1 machine is a very plain Pentium 166 w/ AHA 1542, 32MB, CD ROM, 4
Gig IBM H/D and SMC WD8013 configured at I/O=280, IRQ=10, Base=0xd000.
Nothing else, except for serial and parallel ports.

The 2.0 machine is a Toshiba Satellite (410CDT) with a Xircom parallel port
ethernet adapter.

BTW, I have Windows NT installed on a second partition on the 2.1 machine
disk and it gets acceptable (high) throughput in both directions when doing
FTPs.

I have also done "sysctl -w net.inet.tcp.do_rfc1323=0" and have disabled
DNS resolution but to no avail..

Any pointers/help will be greatly appreciated!
