What you consider to be abuse (which would be equivalent to NOT abiding
by the terms of GPL), I don't consider to be abuse. Of course, one
should always abide by the terms of the license that one has. I don't
consider companies using BSDL'ed code in appropriate ways as abuse.
Some forms of use that you consider to be abuse, I consider proper
use of BSDL'ed code. I think it is great that companies can use the
code with more freedom, and that adds value to the code for those
people.

The BSD license is also not absolute freedom, but doesn't have the
most unpleasant encumberances of GPL.
