Yes,
the ls used in linux is (i think) a gnu version
I have it at home (where i gave up since i could not
get xterm to show colors). 

I also got a mail from cris torek (thanks chris) who told me
that xterm_color is supplied with bsdi 2.0 (i run 1.1 at home)

Still have to add termcaps ...
