An interface on a BSD firewall will sometimes become inoperative and an
ifconfig reveals that the interface is OACTIVE. I have checked BSD's man
pages for the error message but have not yet found what this error
message means. Using ifconfig UP/DOWN will make the interface
operational again (no rebooting required).

Does anyone know what an OACTIVE interface status is and what can be
done to prevent it?

Thanks in advance,

Paul
