You could get informations about this topic from the FreeBSD Handbook,
which is online available on:

	http://www.freebsd.org/

The easiest way for you is perhaps to update the sources using sup.

If you plan to update your sources on a regular basis, then you should
consider getting compressed source "deltas" via ctm.

If you have about 280 MB free space then you could give cvsup a try,
which will mirror the whole CVS tree in a very inexpensive manner.
This is the most flexible version, since you can checkout every
FreeBSD version you like. Additionally you can browse the developers
commit logs...
