Hi Folks,

I am trying to install FreeBSD over a PPP dialup connection. I have a
Motorola ModemSurfer 28.8 modem on COM2 (the jumpers are set and PnP
disabled). When I get to the PPP part of the install (after selecting FTP
install), I type term and Enter for terminal mode echoes back. At this
point I can only hit ~. or ~? or ~p. Nothing else types and there seems to
be no control of the modem. I have disabled all the other serial ports,
the bios reports the modem on com2: and freeBSD reports it correctly at
sio1. I have reduced the speed down to 9600 with no luck.

Please help, I have been struggling with Slackware Linux, and the freeBSD
solution seems so much more elegant (and it seems to be getting good
reviews on the USENET groups).

Thanks so much. Private e-mail is fine.

Regards.

Allen
