I installed this last night and had problems, too.

What I ended up doing was copying over the port of 3.4f that was on the
CD.  I had to rename a subdirectory from 3.4f to 3.4j and then my
installation went no problem.

I know this isn't a very clear or concise explaination, but hopefully it
will get you to where you want to go.
