Ok I've experience with osf and linuc and say go linux. Not BSD exp
though.

my real fear is that you are simply posting a troll. See :
Linux vs. FreeBSD thread in this group which has been raging 
off topic for weeks.

It doesn't really mater if you choose linux of freeBSD, but your 
life will be easier if people you know use the same system. It
makes it alot easoer to ask questions with a definite answer 
instead of "well, in bloggs u*ix you do ..., but in your case
I juxt don't know"
