I have quite a problem...

I have an old SCSI tape drive (Tandberg TDC3600) which I put in an
external box which I is very old, too. This drive works like a charm,
but... when the external box isn't turned on at boot, st0 won't be attached
because no tape drive is found (sure).

So I found, looking at manual pages, the command scsi(8). In its manual
page, there is described

The -p option can be used against the "super scsi" device /dev/scsi/super
to probe all devices with a given SCSI lun on a given SCSI bus. The bus
can be selected with the -b option and the default is 0. The lun can be
selected with the -l option and the default is 0. See scsi(4) for a de-
scription of the "super scsi" device.

Ok I thought, THIS would be a nice command.

root@finesse: scsi -p -l 0
Usage:

  scsi -f ....
  and so on

Hm so it WANTS this "super scsi" device after -f...

This device does not exist on my system. I haven't found a mention of
it in the scsi(4) man page nor in the MAKEDEV script in the /dev directory.

How can I use the scsi(8) command to correctly reprobe the bus for
devices to be able to attach my tape? :-)

I have 2.1.5-RELEASE running here. My SCSI subsystems consists of an
Adaptec 1542C adapter board, 1 IBM DORS-disk, 1 TOSHIBA-CD-ROM and an
external TANDBERG tape.

Pascal

PS: I like this operating system. Works in a wonderful way here!
