Well, to put it a bit concisely,  the background of my question has to do  
with a comparison of the subject (related to BSD systems) with an other  
operating system (QNX, also allowing several networking cards in it with load  
balancing) and apart from that it has to do with some kind of licensing,  
where the latter can arise as the more interesting point.
