This is follow up on my previous message subject "FTP
installation (2.2-BETA). I still haven't received any
respond - well holidays, weekends, new year... that's
ok.

I was able to install the X-Developer system of 2.2-BETA
from a DOS partition, since FTP didn't work properly.
BTW: XWindows didn't start up during installation, but
that's a different story. Anyway I have done some
further testing on FTP. This time I tried to transfer
files using the FTP daemon of the FreeBSD system. Same
result, the connections randomly get disconnected. Error
on the client site: Connection reset by server. Since
this is happening with FTP and FTPD under FreeBSD I
suppose something is wrong with the FTP or TCP/IP
implementation. Just to verify the problem is really
under FreeBSD I've set up my Macintosh as a FTP server
and transfered a whole bunch of files from Windows95
(same machine where FreeBSD is installed) and had no
problems. Using Windows95 as the FTP server also worked
without a problem.

I've recompiled (customized) the FreeBSD kernel and also
compiled FTP and FTPD one step at a time - didn't solve
the problem. (Are we perhaps using Linux code
somewhere?) I'm lost, please help.

Thanks!
Markus
