Btw., this is not the correct way to start xdm.  It turned out to
cause some problems for a few people.  Forcing the Xserver to start on
a particular VTY should better be done using the `vt04' option to the
server, see /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers.  If you do it there, you
can safely start xdm in daemon mode (the default) from your rc.local.

Too bad that the erroneous form made it into some of the old READMEs.
