I am having a problem booting FreeBSD after installation.

Here are the facts:

I have a Tyan Tomcat III Dual Pentium MB, but only one P166 CPU and
512k of onboard cache.

I have 2 HDs, a Western Digital 1.2 GB (ide) and a Maxtor 2.7 GB (ide)

both are partitioned in < 512 mb partitions. (except for a 1 GB NTFS
partition at the end of my Maxtor Drive)

I downloaded the bin, manpages, dict, and doc distributions from
ftp.cdrom.com. I also downloaded the 2.1.6 boot.flp floppy image from
there also, my computer would boot off it fine, but for some reason
after configuring the kernal and loading the devices it would sit
there with a cursor in the bottom left corner of the screen. So I
downloaded the 2.2-BETA boot floppy and rawrite'ed to another floppy,
it worked fine. After booting and configuring the kernal, I went into
OPTIONS and changed the release from 2.2-BETA to 2.1.6-RELEASE. I
proceded with the novice installation. I created a 316MB partition for
FreeBSD in some freespace on my Western Digital drive. I then created
the filesystems /, /var,/usr, <swap> .. I selected the Normal
installation and proceded. It installed fine, no errors or anything. I
then proceded with the post-install configuration. After I was done
with that it took me back to the main installation screen where I
exited the install program and rebooted. I booted FreeBSD off the boot
manager and all was well until the hd detection process.

It detected by Western Digital and Maxtor HDs fine, but then it made
up that I had a 4+ GB HD! and It put the same number for cyclinders,
heads, etc: "4294967294" . Then it said:

"WARNING: / not dismounted properly
Automatic reboot ....." (or something like that)

Then it started checking the file systems (I guess this is what it was
doing since it displayed information such as # of files,
Fragmentation, etc)

Then this:

"Fatal Trap 1: privileged instruction fault while in kernal mode
pointer                = 0x8:0xf0193fe7
codesegment     = base0x0, limit 0xfffff, type0x16, DPL 0, pres 1,
                             def 32 1, gran 1
processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume IOPL =0
current process  = 5 (sh)

panic: privileged instruction fault"

it gives me this and then reboots almost every time
(I was able to get it to boot once, but because of what I dont know..)

I have reinstalled 2 times to see if maybe something when wrong there,
but still the same error. Please HELP!

Thanks!
