I think you can already compile it with -DNO_HISTORY.  Most people
find the history a neat thing however, and certainly value it more
than a binary that's 100 KB smaller.  Since we are demand-paging, as
long as you don't use it, you won't load the bloat into your memory
anyway.  You gotta turn on the history editor explicitly, so this
already gives you control about whether you're loading the bloat or
not.
