I have problems with the Intel Etherexpess 16. The network is very
slow. I am running 2.1.0, on a 486-66.

Gary Palmer (Re: Strange FTP Behavior) was kind enough to tell me
that the ix driver is at fault. Looking at the driver, it appears
to have changed between 2.1.0 and -current.

The files I have are:
    /usr/src/sys/i386/isa/if_ix.c v 1.7.4.1 1995/10/07, 46747 bytes
    /usr/src/sys/i386/isa/if_ixreg.h v 1.6 1995/05/30, 16402 bytes
The -current files are
    /usr/src/sys/i386/isa/if_ix.c v 2.3 1996/09/06, 44822 bytes
    /usr/src/sys/i386/isa/if_ixreg.h v 1.9 1996/09/06, 15995 bytes
This information is from the $Id CVS tag and ls -l.

What is the version of the files in 2.1.6? I plan on upgrading, so,
if the files have changed, I will purchase the CDROM. I plan to,
anyway, just possibly sooner! I realize that other files, such as
if.h, etc., have changed too. These are just the main parts of the
ix driver.

A replacement for the Etherexpress costs $100. I am in the process
of abandoning the device in favor of a DEC DE205-CA.

Anyone have experience with the DEC DE205 board?

Thanks,
tomdean
