This error can be avoided by turning of WIDE negotiation for that device in the
Adaptec BIOS (ctrl-A at boot time). I assume that you have the CD attached to
the narrow SCSI connector (50-pin, the phyically large one) and not the wide
(68-pin, physically smaller) one?
