Hi,

I was looking at my virtually virgin 386bsd installation last night
trying to figure out how to get a serial terminal to come up. For various
reasons, I do most of my work via a serial hard-wired terminal device.

So I went into /etc/ttys and, on the line whith info about "com01" I
replaced the off with an on, exited, rebooted and got an error telling me that
/dev/com01 didn't exist. Looking in /dev I found out that there was a device
called /dev/com1 so I changed my ttys entry for com01 to an entry for com1.

Now I got a login banner but, when I typed nothing showed up on my
terminal. I think I was locked up. I tried sending stuff to the device (i.e.
ls ./dev/com1) and found that characters like <cr> and <tab> were being lost.
In addition, it seemed that handshaking wasn't being done correctly.

I'm sure there's something real basic here that I'm missing, but when
you don't know a thing it becomes far less basic!

Any suggestions on what I should do next would be much appreciated!
