After fooling around with the printer for a while the system crashed and
stopped responding to the keyboard (even Ctl-Alt-Del wouldn't work). So I
flipped the power switch off and on and the system started up. As expected
the initial messages from fsck complained about bad blocks etc. and THEN
none of startup files were executed and instead a message came up saying
"386 Bsd ... (Amnesiac) " - I use ... to denote some other stuff that came
up. The login prompt was displayed but the system would not allow root or
(my) user logins !!! Flipping the power switch off and on again resulted in a
"proper" reboot and the system is up and running now. Any clues to what
happened ?

BTW, while I am still at it, anyone have a Apple Laserwrite II connected to
com1 ? I am trying to connect a Laserwrite II and haven't succeeded yet.

My system is : 386/25Mhz, 4MB RAM, 125MB Seagate IDE, Diamond Speedstar SVGA
no coprocessor, WD 8013EP ethernet card.
