Let me guess, you are running a PPRO 166, right? That is definitely the
cause of the problem. The PPRO 200 does DNS resolution correctly every 
time, there is a special resolver plug-in chip on the motherboard. 

The above was a joke of sorts.

You need to be doing *reverse lookups* Run out and buy the DNS & BIND book
published by O'Reilly and Associates, and it will explain everything.
