I don't know anything about the 370, but I have in my possesion NEC and
IBM laptops running FreeBSD successfully.  (It's kind of ironic that the
two machines you are having problems with are the ones that I have am
using to develop the laptop support under FreeBSD with.)

Hmm, I need more details.  Which version of FreeBSD?  What kind of
'error' are you seeing? Etc....
