The Linux version has both 2.0 and 2.0.1 (the version I have installs
2.0 by default, with a separate installation for 2.0.1). I believe the
FreeBSD version is just 2.0.

I've heard this, but I believe building programs using MooTiff (BSD)
is a matter of linking against a couple of other libraries, like
libeXt, libICE, etc. --- at least that's what I've gathered from
building the sample programs (which work just fine).
