I'm not sure what the above is referring to since Harvest isn't applicable
to the above discussion, and the Apache beta is 1.2b1, not 2.1b1

I have been using Netsite Commerce Server 1.12 for a long time on
Solaris 2.4 and 2.5.1 (both fully patched). I have been *very* displeased
with the direction and future stability of the SuiteSpot products (Hey, I
don't want a News server, mail server, proxy from Netscape, I want a
kick ass httpd)... I've since migrated our staging server to Apache 1.1.1
and am now running 1.2b1. I am looking into Stronghold, but haven't
actually set it up yet, just downloaded the trial. (As an aside, Stronghold,
you really should follow the /opt conventions when on Solaris, when in
Rome... )

I have found Apache 1.1.1 and 1.2b1 to be significantly *faster* that
Commerce Server 1.12 and also much more efficient on the machine,
as well as perceived speed...

* Apaches httpd takes 60% the memory that Netsite's httpd does
* Apache supports Keep Alive connections which adds dramatically
to perceived speed, I've heard that SuiteSpot 3.0 *still* doesn't
  work 100% with Keep Alive
* Apache allows a more dynamic adjustment for number of httpd processes
so the machine doesn't *always* have to be running 128 httpd's
* Apache's support for Virtual Hosts allows me to more effectively
  utilize each machine.

I've been nothing but happy. As well, the status module for Apache
is a God send (be on the lookout for my Apache xload ripoff for
monitoring a web servers acitivity... :P ).
