Do you give a pointer to this comparison?  I'd be interested to see it. 
For two comparisons I've seen between Solaris, SunOS 4, and Linux have
been on for calls to mprotect and for fault-handling.  Both indicate
that Solaris 2.5 is about 50% slower than SunOS 4.x, and about 3 times
slower than Linux. If people are interested in seeing those comparisons,
I can try to make them available (and attatch a little more accuracy and
information to them.)
