   Hi:

I have given the 2.1.6 a try in response the call for testing..
Here is what I have:

   AMD K5 x586 133 mHz "tiawan-special" no-name brand motherboard
with 3 PCI, 4 ISA and 1 VLB slots. 256K SRAM cache and 32MB DRAM.
The chipset is UMC and the bios is by AMI.

Adaptec 1520 SCSI adapter with 80MB Quantum, and Archive tape.

Maxtor 540MB EIDE harddisk at wdc0 with 32-bit mode enabled and
PIO mode 1.

Toshiba XM-5302TA ATAPI CDROM drive at wdc1 as the MASTER device.

I entered the "Visual" mode at boot time (VERY nice touch guys :-) )
and set up my SCSI controller and NE2000 clone. I REALLY like the
way you guys set up the first time kernel config!! Very handy! I
do have some reservations about it confusing newbies, but for
someone who depends on FreeBSD in a ISP setting its great :-)

The kernel probe finds wdc0 and its drive but times out on
wdc1 with "wdc1 not found at 0x170f".

This hardware worked fine under Windoze95, and was recently
liberated to run Linux 2.0.0 (Slackware96), which has no problem.
Funny thing is that after I booted with the FreeBSD boot.flp, I had
to go into the CMOS setup and then do a save to get Linux to
recognize it. When I experienced this, I repeated the boot from
boot.flp with the same results... :-|

Ofcourse I will try to make available as much additional info
and assistance as I can. I have a tendency to discount this since
there seems to be some kind of weirdnes with this motherboard,
and since I am still new to PCI motherboards, but I am reporting
it anyway in the hopes that it will be usedful.
