Oh, yes, you may be right. I forgot something: You didn't have also compiled
new libc.a and libm.a with 2.3.1, did you? The old libc.a does not have the
assert function/macro mapped to the _eprintf builtin.

The problem will occur if you want to have all software coded by 2.3.1/2.3.2
on your machine. BTW: 2.3.2 also has this effect.
