Before I ask my question, I want to take a minute to say thanks to
everyone who has helped me in the past with my newbie questions for
FBSD. I really value this resource and without it I doubt I would have
been able to completely switch from Mickey$soft based OS to a real OS
(FBSD).

1st ?:

I installed FBSD 2.1.5 from the WC CDROM release (8/96). I installed
emacs and xemacs from the packages section to the install program
(/stand/sysinstall). When I attempt to run emacs I keep getting the
following error:

bash$ emacs
ld.so failed: Can't find shared library "libgcc.so.261.0"
bash$

I've looked in /usr/lib and /usr/local/lib and I can't find this file.
I'm assuming it does exist on my system, but I don't know where it is.
I've tried using the command which to locate it, but this is the result
I get:

bash$ which libgcc.so.261.0
bash$

When I attempt to run xemacs from an xterm window I get the following
error:

bash$ xemacs
ld.so failed: Can't find shared library "libXm.so.2.0"
bash$

I tried a similar seach, but had the same luck. Any suggestions?

2nd ?:

I configured my ppp files following the directioens/suggestions in the
on-line handbook. The ppp.conf file didn't work, so I cp'ed the sample
and modified for my ISP. I'm able to connect and surf, however I've run
into a problem that I did not experience under Winbloze95; whenever the
connection is 'inactive' for a short period of time (ie; the time it
takes me to type this posting ) the connection drops and I have to
reconnect before I can send this. This problem occurs with all the
software I use on the net, ie knews, Netscape, Mosaic, etc. I don't
know if his helps, but my ISP also uses FBSD as their OS, but they don't
support or help users attempting to login using FBSD. Any suggestion on
where to start looking for this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help
