: Hello,

: I am installing a new scsi disk to my freeBSD box. (Quantum Atlas)
: using Adaptec 2940UW. Where can I find the How To for this procedure.
: I tried to decrypt /etc/disktab and I have no idea what's going on.

Run /stand/sysinstall, select the custom install and partition and label your
disk - then exit sysinstall.

If (I think it happens on 2.1.5) sysinstall crashes (SEGV), you can finish
writing the label with "disklabel -r -e sd0" where sd0 is your disk. Run
disklabel on one of your existing disks to see what sort of input it
expects.

I used to use /etc/disktab - but the above method saves a huge amount
of time with a calculator - and is less prone to error - especially if
you're labeling "around" existing data.
