Finally someone with the same problem as me! I have a 1.2G WD HD (2484C
16 63) and a Maxtor 345M HD. I downloaded the bin dist on to the WD HD
and after it copies the first 3 or 4 files to the Maxtor, it gives that
error. According to the info on the second pseudo terminal, it considers
the files to be corrupted. So, I made a small 30M partition on Maxtor to
put the bin files and it installed perfectly! But, even when I had a
workable system on the Maxtor drive, any file I copied from the WD drive
was corrupted. My computer is a Pentium 133 with an ASUS P55TP4XE
motherboard. The motherboard has the floppy/hd controller built in(if
that makes a difference). I also have a Soundblaster 32 PnP with CD-ROM
and ASUS PCI-V264CT PnP VGA card using the ATI-264CT chip. The CD-ROM is
connected to the IDE port on the soundcard. I used all of the default
options in the installation but it still fails after the first few times.
It seems as though the problem has something to do with the WD drive. I
tried to be as specific as possible, but if you need any more info just
e-mail me. Thanks!

: Hello,

: Write failure on transfer! (wrote -1 bytes of 1024 bytes)
: Unable to transfer the bin distribution from wd0s1

: It also gives similar messages for des, etc. Thinking that there might

: got up to 3% on copying the /bin before the same error messages. So
: now I'm wondering if the problem is due to the 1G western digital.
: It's 2100C 16 63, but is setup in BIOS as 525 64 63 LBA (pfdisk says
: 524 64 63). The installation disk startup shows 2100 16 63, but in the

: menus its 525 64 63. Before I go messing with the drive settings in

: which has caused lost data before, I'd like to see what you think.

: Thanks in advance,
