That's what the code was intended for. ;)

Anyway, can you upgrade to the latest sources?  There's a bugfix
integrated from Bruce Evans which fixed some of the kbd init stuff.
Caution: i've experienced several boot-time hangs after this fix has
been incorporated, and are still looking for a reliable fix for
these... *g*
