The man page referenced is available in NetBSD-current. You can get it from
ftp.netbsd.org, in directory /pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-current/src/share/man/man8,
file compat_svr4.8. The kernel options are not correct for NetBSD1.2 (i.e
you just need COMPAT_SVR4, but not EXEC_ELF*), but the setup of /emul/svr4
is the same.
