Okay... I don't really want to start a debate about which is better.
(even though they can be fun)

I am at a toss-up now. Between 386BSD and Linux. I used to run
Linux, now I have 386BSD. Other than the differences between installing
and other small things like that...

I have a Gateway 2000/386DX 33mhz with a 120 Meg Hard Drive, SVGA,
and 4 Megs of memory. It seems on 386BSD, the pager gets most of
the CPU time.

Here are the criteria I'd like to weigh it against.
 - compatiability: mainly with most other Unix's out there.
i.e: I download code, which platform would
it compile under with fewer changes.
 - memory management: Basically, which can use my 4megs better.
 - kernel upgrades: One thing I like about Linux, with BSD it's
always a patch and I can never find the
new kernel compiled or I don't have the
                    room to compile it.

Basically, from people that have used both, which would you
recommend for my system.

  thanks,
     -Dan

BTW, this is in no way flamatory towards Bill&Lynne or Linus.
We all owe them a great deal. Happy Thanksgiving all
