Thanks for the info.  I have scrounged up some of the older SMC boards
(swap with NT boxes, which are not sensitive to the change) to get me
through for now. So I am OK for a few weeks.  Nice way to spend my
Saturday :-( Thought I was completely bonkers when I could not get the
machine to insert at all.  Oh well.
