I have a 2.1.5 machine - that has a ISDN connection
on one IP address via the serial port -- and another
IP address going out via ethernet --

when this machine boots, if the machines on the ethernet
segment are not connected or turned off, everything works
well and the ISDN connection is made via the serial port

however, if the machines on the ethernet segment are powered
up, then the ISDN connection isn't made..
