Hi Berend,

I'll make a stab, but I'm not sure that I'm correct. Check your BIOS, to
see if it supports booting off of SCSI. Some BIOS's are not able to boot
from SCSI, others can, but the default setting is to not.

One thing that may be the easiest to do:

Create a 20MB (or whatever you want for "/") FreeBSD partition on your
IDE drive. This will be your FreeBSD boot and root filesystem. Put all
your other filesystems and paging on the SCSI drive. This way you are
booting IDE, and once the kernel is alive you should have no trouble
using the SCSI drive for all the rest of your filesystems.

Hope this helps. Again, I'm not convinced that I'm entirely correct with
what's going on, so feel free to take my advice with a grain of salt.

Best of luck,
-Scott
