I got npasswd from the author. It needs to be ported to FreeBSD, which
I am working on.

npasswd is a nice little password "checking" program that takes a user's
potential password and tried to crack it while interfaced with the user.
It also can be configured to allow for passwords that are longer than
8 characters.

npasswd is also being updated. 1.2.4 has been out for years. 2.0
should be here soon. ;)
