I recently setup a system at 100 Mbps. The only card that worked
reliably was an Intel Etherexpress 100 Pro.

Both a 3Com 3C590 & a Kingston brand card (DEC 21140 chipset) gave me
problems. The 3Com is a documented bug; but, I can't explain why the
DEC based card didn't work.

Good luck
