I have seen this happen also when I am trying to use a DECstation as a
client from a 386bsd server. Using DECstations as servers to 386bsd
clients works perfectly.

However, I have not seen this problem with two 386bsd machines. I
cross-nfs mount directories/filesystems all the time between my two
386bsd machines with no problems. As I stated above, I also have
DECstations mounted at the same time.
