     I successfuly build gcc-2.7.2 on FreeBSD 2.1.5,
but when I use it to build libg++-2.7.2 I get:

/var/tmp/cc002108.s: Assembler messages:
/var/tmp/cc002108.s:1169: Error: Unknown pseudo-op: `.weak'

Checking the FreeBSD mail archives I saw two
possible solutions discussed. One was to "comment out"
the ".weak stuff" in freebsd.h in the gcc
distribution. The other was to build a newer version
of gas.

I'm wondering which, if either, is the correct
solution. Are there "official" patches out there?

     Thanks for any help,
